Santa Barbara: Capricorn Press, 1970. First Edition. A major association copy of this collection of early verse, inscribed just a few months following publication. Carl Weissner (1940-2012) was German author, publisher, translator, and counterculture figure, noted for his translations of William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Andy Warhol, J.G. Ballard, Harold Norse, and others. He enjoyed a long-time friendship with Bukowski, acting as his major translator in Germany, and helping to cement his literary legacy in his native country. Krumhansl 34a. First Printing, wrappered issue, one of 1,000 copies. Octavo (22.5cm); stiff red wrappers, with titling and a fireman's pole stamped in black and gilt on spine and front cover; [36]pp; illus. Inscribed by the author on the first blank page: "For Carl Weissner - my buddy in the Fatherland. Charles Bukowski. July First / 1970." A Fine copy.
