New York, U.S.A.: Alfred a Knopf Inc, 1995. Bound in the publishers beige coloured hardcovers with gilt title lettering on red quarter cloth to the spine. Blind stamped with the authors initials AC in gilt to the front board. The 325 pages are in excellent condition throughout with no inscriptions and are squarely bound. Decorated double endpapers featuring the writing notes of Camus to the front and rear of book. This is the First Edition translated from the French by David Hapgood. The handwritten manuscript was discovered in the car wreckage which caused the authors untimely death in 1960. Housed in the fine dustwrapper with publishers printed price intact on front inside flap. The photograph supplied is a picture of the book and dustwrapper and we are happy to send more images on request. A beautiful copy of this poignant Camus title.. First Edition. Fine/Fine. Synopsis

Born in Algeria in 1913, Albert Camus published The Stranger-- now one of the most widely read novels of this century-- in 1942. Celebrated in intellectual circles, Camus was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1957. On January 4, 1960, he was killed in a car accident. From the Hardcover edition.
