A limited edition (1 of 5000 copies), presenting a modern English-language version of the journal kept by Father Santa María in 1775, recording the first Spanish voyage of exploration into San Francisco Bay. With four contemporary maps. Also with six Louis Choris illustrations in full color. Fr. Santa María's journal is reproduced side-by-side on versos of leaves, facing the English translation on rectos. --- In blue cloth-covered boards with illustration & titling stamped in gilt to cover & spine. Book wrapped in simple light blue jacket. --- A bright, newish, copy lacking damages worthy of mention. Unpriced jacket with tears to edges & sunning; wrapped in removable archival mylar protector.; Quarto - 11 to 13 in. tall; [14], 130 pages .
