Albuquerque, New Mexico: Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, 1973. First Printing . Trade Paperback. Good. 8 1/2" X 11. 64 Pages. One inch tear at bottom front spine area. and Page one has a 3/4 inch tear. Covers show very minor wear. No other marks or stamps and interior text is tight with many color illustrations. The 1973 Balloon Championship was the second such event and was held at the New Mexico State Fairgrounds. The First Albuquerque hot-air balloon event was held in 1972 and from the beginning was called the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta and it was held on the grounds of Coronado Shopping Center in Albuquerque with thirteen ballons participating. This 1973 Program Book is Illustrated with photographs, many in color of the 34 competing pilots and their balloons along with background information. Schedule of Events: Feb 10 Welcome to Albuquerque, N.M. State Fairgrounds Grandstand. Monday, Feb 12 Official Welcoming Ceremony International Day. Tuesday Feb 13, Governors Day. Wednesday Feb 14 Balloon Meister Day. Thursday Feb 15 Fiesta Day. Friday Feb 16 Roadrunner Day. Saturday Feb 17 Grand Finale Mass Balloon Ascensions and Awards Banquet. Contents in 20 Chapters: History of Ballooning, 1st World Hot Air Balloon Competition, Autographs, Even and Scoring System, Questions & Answers About the Balloons, Tips for Spectators, World Championshipos Events and Scoring, terminology of the Modern Day Hot Air Balloon, Fiesta Races and Events, Ballooning a Spectator Sport, Albuquerque, Map of Albuquerque, Turquoise Trail, Old Town, Schedule of Events, Amigos Trophies and Prize Money, Ballooning Milestones, U.S. Pilot Entries, and Autographs. There are no signatures on the blank Autograph page. By the year 2000 over 1000 Balloons and their crews came from all over the world.
