Eighty-five species are added to the known Bermuda ichthyofauna, and 55 previously reported species are shown to be based on misidentifications, unsuccessful introductions, unreliable documentation or questionable locality data. The rich history of the utilization and management of Bermudas fisheries is discussed and brief biographies are included of nine early naturalists and ichthyologists who made important contributions to Bermuda ichthyology.
