About This Item
London: Cape, 1925. 8vo, pp. 320. Original red three-quarter boards, paper label to spine. Top edge cut, others uncut. Staining to front panel, some browning to endpapers. Lacking the dustwrapper. First trade edition, preceded by a limited edition of 60 signed copies, LENGTHILY INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR: 'Signed for E. Nolan Sargent...whom I do not know, but who seems a decent fellow; at any rate he did enclose return postage, which is what many of my 'admirers' sinfully admit to do. A.E.Coppard Long Wittenham Sep 26 1931'. The inscription is followed by a holograph quotation from Uncle Remus. A nicely personalised example of this collection of short stories, lacking the dustwrapper.
