About This Item
New York: E. P. Dutton & Co., 1963. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good +. This is a stated first edition. The interior of the book is clean and fresh. However, the previous owner has added her decorative bookplate to the front fixed end paper, just opposite a full-page award (General Proficiency, 1963-64) mounted on the front free end paper. The green cloth covers are fresh, with just a bit of wear at edges and corners. The dust jacket is in Good + condition, with a clip from the bottom corner of the front flap, edge wear and shallow chipping. The attached scan gives a better idea of condition. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: Josie and Sandra Campbell, accompanied by Anna Harding McCabe, Jay Stagliano and Scott Maitland, go to Haiti to meet up with Mr. and Mrs. Campbell, have a sun-filled vacation, then sail the Pakhoi to New York. When they arrive, however, the boat has been sold, and the parents' new plan to move the family to Aruba conflicts with Sandra and Josie's hopes to settle into a normal life back in Wallaceville. Barry Considine arrives in time for a wonderful cruise up the coast of Haiti and the family's problems are resolved against the background of Haiti's beautiful scenery and troubled political system.
