Alfred A. Knopf. New York. 1981. Quarter-bound in black cloth with black paper boards and gilt lettering to spine. First Edition (stated) with date on title page matching date on copyright page and printers code 11/81 on back flap. Slight fading to color on bottom of spine and boards, else fine. Signed in ink by author on title page. Age-toned unclipped ($13.95) jacket has minimal shelf wear that is protected with removable mylar cover. Robert Stone (1937-2015) was a finalist for the National Book Award five times, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize twice and once for the PED/Faulkner Award. His novel, Dog Soldiers, was the sole winner (NBA, 1975). Perhaps little known is Stone also won the Houghton Mifflin Literary Fellowship Award for his first novel, A Hall of Mirrors. This novel, like much of his work, revolves around unusual landscapes and social upheaval. In this novel three groups of Americans encounter a banana republic in Central America about to undergo civil revolution. Includes several newspaper articles about the novel. 5.75x8.75 in. 439 pg.
