New York: Harper & Brothers, 1923. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. Frank Schoonover. Quarto (7.25" x 9.75"), navy cloth, gilt, with pictorial paste-on cover illustration. 222pp. Illustrated with 10 color plates and endpapers by Frank Schoonover. A few stains on the covers and the cloth a little puckered on the spine, but quite an attractive book. Historical fiction set in Florida in the 1500s with stunning illustrations by Wilmington, Delaware artist Frank Schoonover. Schoonover studied under Howard Pyle, and became one of the Brandywine School artists of the "Golden Age of Illustration"
