London: Michael Joseph, 1938. Solid copy in its first printing. Unmarked but for neat signature of former owner, London 1938 on front endpaper. Green textured cloth with silver lettering to spine and front or top board. True first. Separate publication without Ship of the Line followed shortly later. These two books pus "The Happy Return" were the basis for the film that starred Gregory Peck and Virginia Mayo. Light spine lean and light foxing to outer page edges. Hinge starting at page 160. Price intact jacket has two small chips at head of spine and minor chip at head of front fold but otherwise quite nice. In mylar. . First U.K. Edition. Hardccover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
