London: Constable, 1953. First edition. Octavo. xii, 264 pp; color title page (same as dustjacket), numerous b/w photographs & drawings; index. Purple cloth with silver-lettered spine in dustjacket. Fine/Near Fine, a bright, crisp unmarked copy, erratum slip tipped in; unclipped jacket has touch of wear to spine ends, slight creasing at top of front panel. Bookseller label from Holliday Bookshop affixed to rear board. Written and illustrated by the artist Barbara Mildred Jones (1912-1978). Jones studied Mural Decoration at the Royal College of Art - where she became part of that distinctive group of artists and illustrators of whom John Piper, Edward Bawden, Eric Ravilious and Edward Ardizzone are the best known.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fine/Near Fine.
