About This Item
The First UK Printing published by MacDonald in 1954. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. The binding remains tight. A little pushing and fading at the spine tips. The text-block is lightly toned and spotted which has encroached very slightly on the page edges in a few places. Mild offsetting to the end papers. Free from erasures and inscriptions. Small neat previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. The WRAPPER is complete and correctly priced at 30/- net. It is in Very Good++ or better condition and is amazingly clean for its age. Mild edge wear in places. A little slight loss on the folds in places. The spine is lightly spotted with far less toning than usually encountered. A small amount of reinforcement tape to the upper spine on the verso which does not show through to the front. The Hookaway Cowles period wrapper design looks very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. A wonderful collection of history, anthropology and cookery enhanced by Cowles' B/W illustrations throughout. A very attractive and sharp copy. Highly collectible with such attributes. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
