About This Item

Methodist Publishing House, 1930. Hardcover. Very Good. 0x0x0. Murfreesboro (Tennessee) Teacher's College head coach Frank A. Faulkenberry's ca. 1930 football how-to with a focus on stance. Signed in blue ink by Faulkenberry on frontis photo. Signature unconditionally guaranteed to pass any COA examination. Includes a short history of the game, analyses of the stance for every position, and numerous photos. Notably, the last chapter contains a discussion of the stance in team formation. Examples with photos include Robert Zuppke of the University of Illinois, Knute Rockne of Notre Dame and Glenn "Pop" Warner of Stanford University. Of additional importance is an appendix of "football notes" written by such coaching luminaries as Fielding Yost, Robert C. Zuppke, Knute K. Rockne, Howard Jones and Glenn S. "Pop" Warner - a virtual who's who of early Hall of Fame coaches. Faulkenberry himself was an extraordinarily successful coach at all levels of play, also a legendary athlete at the University of the South at Suwannee. Rare. No copies in commerce at the time of this posting. Three copies only located in WorldCat database. 72 pp. 7 3/4" x 5 1/8". Tight, unmarked copy with minimal shelf wear. A very presentable copy of a scarce football collectible. Photographs of or additional information about this item are available on request. All inquiries answered promptly.
