About This Item
London: Cecil & Amelia Woolf, 1968. first edition. Hardcover. Fine. 8vo (6 x 9 tall). One of twelve copies printed on J. Barcham Green's Charles the First hand-made paper. This is number 9 of 12 signed by Brocard Sewell. Available only to subscribers. This copy is in true fine, top edge gilt, all other edges uncut. All leaves also uncut -- an unopened copy on very elegant paper. Brown quarter leather with gilt stamping over a light gray-green cloth (matching the Barcham Green paper), purple silk book marker sewn in. All fine. Gatherings hand-sewn. All fine. No wear to the leather or boards. John Gray was said to be the model for the main character in Oscar Wilde's novel "The Picture of Dorian Gray. The trade edition of this book is scarce and I have never seen a copy of the limited edition of 12. A lovely book.
