This story is about the most famous unsolved murder in the southwest and the life of the man who held the key to that murder. On September 26, 1970, E.C. Mullendore III, the heir to the three hundred thousand acre Cross Bell Ranch Empire in Oklahoma was murdered in his own home. The only other person with him was ranch employee Damon ‘Chub’ Anderson who was also shot. At the time of his death Mr. Mullendore held the largest life insurance policy in the United States. As a result of mistakes made during the investigation no one has ever been charged in the murder despite the involvement of numerous law enforcement officials, lawyers, investigators and TV personalities but Anderson was one of the suspects. After the murder he drifted and eventually disappeared from the area but was imprisoned in 2006 on a Kansas warrant. The author befriended him on his release. Up until his death in November 2010 the author met with Chub regularly and had been working on this project with his assistance, researching every aspect of this powerful story. The book focuses both on his experiences and the pivotal unsolved murder of E.C. Mullendore – an event that had shaped his life for the next 41 years. Author's business card is laid in front. A clean very presentable copy.
