Maps, one folding, black and white photographic illustrations, xvi + 312pp, notes and index, browned endpapers, some light foxing upper edge and preliminary leaves, cloth slightly faded, lettering dulled on the spine, but good copy. Two prior owner inscriptions on front free endpaper. 22 x 14cm This journey undertaken by Ella Maillart and travel writer Peter Fleming resulted in two books - Forbidden Journey by Maillart and News from Tartary by Fleming. Each tells the story of their journey but their accounts could not be more different. .
