London,: Bradbury and Evans, , 1854. First edition. Bound in dark navy cloth with gilt pictorial and title to front board, blind rule to both boards. Designed and fully illustrated in 80 leaves of amusing b/w cartoons depicting caricatures, with captions, on a mid-19th Century Grand Tour of the Continent. Doyle's work frequently appeared, amongst other places, in Punch magazine. Neat repair to spine. Boards lightly bumped at corners. Back board at page edge has wear. New endpapers. One or two spots and some small repairs to edges of preliminary pages. A good copy. 310 x 240 mm (12¼ x 9½ inches). Reliure en tissu marine foncé avec titre et pictogramme dorés sur le premier plat, règle aveugle sur les deux plats. Conçu et entièrement illustré en 80 feuilles de dessins amusants en noir et blanc représentant des caricatures, avec des légendes, lors d'un grand voyage sur le continent au milieu du XIXe siècle. Le travail de Doyle a souvent été publié, entre autres, dans le magazine Punch. Réparation soignée au dos. Les planches sont légèrement bosselées aux coins. Le dos de la planche au niveau du bord de la page est usé. Nouvelles pages de garde. Une ou deux taches et quelques petites réparations sur les bords des pages préliminaires.
