William M'Alpine, 1774. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. Fair+ ; No jacket. 1774 Printed by William M'Alpine for the Rev. Mr. Williams of Windham, Boston. NOT ex-library. Small hardcover is full bound in brown leather with four raised bands on spine creating five panels. The binding is intact. Hinges NOT cracked. The edges are heavily worn and rounded, exposing the boards at the tips. No lettering on spine; if there were any labels on the panels, they are gone. Minor fraying at the head of the spine. Covers are rubbed and scuffed with small stains. The front free endpaper and following flyleaf are detached but present; both are chipped at the edges. Front free endpaper has an old name in ink, partially transferred to the front endpaper. Pages lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. Pages are in good condition, with light waviness and occasional foxing. Pages clean and unmarked. About 15 pages toward the rear are creased at the top corner tips. 339 pages. No dust jacket. Carefully packed, shipped in a box. Title page states: "By the Pious and Learned Thomas Blackwell, To which is now added An Introduction... by Simon Williams, A. M. Minister of the Gospel in Windham in N. Hampshire." The introduction is "humbly addressed to the subscribers of the following new Edition of Mr. Blackwell's Book on genuine revealed Religion". Following the introduction, there is an 18-page list of the names of the subscribers; one last name has been crossed out in ink and a corrected name written in. One-page Publisher's advertisement at end of book. This item will be shipped with signature confirmation required.
