About This Item
London: J. Butterworth and Son, 1824. Book. Good. Hardcover. Sixth edition, corrected, and enlarged. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. If I had any clue how to properly, accurately and intelligently describe the contents of this title in two or three sentences, I'd do exactly that. But not living anywhere within spitting distance of proper, accurate or intelligent, the task is too daunting for the likes of me. Besides, anyone looking for a tome of this sort already knows about articles of clerkship, warrants of attorney, capias, writs of certiorari and habeas corpus, demurrers, judgments by confession and default, the rules for bringing money into court (I thought guys just brought in a wheelbarrow full of cash and dumped it behind the Bench, but apparently not), and so on and so forth. I am intimately familiar with some of the trappings of the legal profession (hello there, whisky and cigars), but the actual proceedings? Nope. That's for better minds than mine. Full calf, gilt spine rule/lettering, 812 pages (including index). Edgewear, scraping, impressions/scratches, much external soil/dampstaining, front hinge partially detached (still attached from about bottom quarter of hinge, but must be handled carefully), near 2" tear to top right spine edge before becoming horizontal for another 3/4". An uncommon item in any condition. Since this weighs more than the average book, additional postage may be required..
