About This Item

Victoria, Australia: Penquin Books, 1985. Very scarce book in any condition and a wonderful read on life in Australia. The author died nine months after "A Fortunate Life" was written. The author taught himself to read and write. This is the story of an ordinary man. It is the story of Albert Facey, who lived with simple honesty, compassion and courage. A parentless boy who started work at eight on the rough West Australian frontier, he struggled as an itinerant rural worker, survived the gore of Gallipoli, the loss of his farm in the Depression, the death of his son in World War ll and that of his beloved wife after sixty devoted years- yet felt that his life was fortunate.... Soft Cover. Very Good/a Illus. by Robert Juniper. 9x6". Autobiography/biography.
