About This Item
Exceedingly rare set of The Foundations of the Nineteenth Century by Houston S Chamberlain. First volume is a 1st edition, 2nd printing, published in 1912; second volume appears to be a 1st edition, 1st printing published in 1910. Volumes one bears the bookplate of on Evelyn De Vesci, a French viscountess of whom portraits can be found on Google. Volume one has infrequent and minimalistic pencil ticks in some of the margins towards the beginning of the book. Title pages show some foxing but interiors are bright and clear. Volume one has a small and superficial surface stain on the front cover, which is the only apparent flaw of the set. Page ends are bright. Very good condition.
