London, etc: Various. Mixed Editions. . Mixed Bindings. Good to Very Good. Here are four books concerning the Church of Scotland, mixed bindings and editions, two of which are signed. 1. The True Face of the Kirk, An Examination of the Ethos and Tradition of the Church of Scotland, by R Stuart Louden (OUP, London, 1963). First edition, hardback in dustwrapper. Signed and dedicated by the author to the ffep. This copy is in very good condition, but with some tanning, fading and discoloration to the wrapper. Stuart Louden was a leading minister in the Church, and served as a chaplain in the Western Desert during the Second World War, he was taken prisoner and held as a POW at Lamsdorf, Upper Silesia Oflag VIII. 2. The Church of Scotland Ordinal and Service Book for Use in the Courts of the Church (Church of Scotland, Edinburgh, 1943). This copy belonged to the author of the above, R Stuart Loudon, and signed by him to the ffep. Small hardback with gilt titling to spine and upper board. Good plus condition. 3. Confession of Faith (Larger Catechism, Shorter Catechism, Directory of Public Worship, Presbyterial Church Government), (William Blackwood, Edinburgh, 1943). Slim paperback. Good condition. 4. Fathers of the Kirk, Some Leaders of the Church of Scotland from the Reformation to the Reunion, edited by Ronald Selby Wright. (OUP, London, 1960). First edition, hardback. Good condition, with some bumping to the corners of the rear board.
