HAND COLORED ENGRAVING . . . SHOWING ALL OF THE AREA FROM THE SOUTH END OF ANNAM . . ILLUSTRATING ALL OF COCHIN-CHINA, LOWER CAMBODIA & LAOS . .THE GULF OF SIAM, SOUTH CHINA SEA, FLOW OF THE MEKONG . . RIVER INTO THE SEA, SAIGON & ENVIRONS . * An excellent early example with much detail of the most southern part of the French colony of Cochinchine. Including Cambodia, Laos, . With an unusual inset at the lower right corner of Saigon, with caption: "PALAIS DU GOUVERNEUR A SAIGON." . With caption in lower margin from the left: "Grave par G. Lorsignol; Dresse Sous La Direction de J. Migeon; Migeon editeur. imp.11r. du Moulin Vert, Paris; Ecrit par A. Bixet." . *** THE MAP: Map shows from about 100 degrees west to 105 degrees east; from about 12 degrees north down to about 8 degrees south; . Much detail devoted to International borders, provincial borders shown, names: country, cities, villages, rivers, seas, Golfe [gulf] De Siam, with a large number of coastal cities & villages clearly named. . With focus on the Mekong rivers and its confluence and deltas, running through Saigon out to the sea. Also shows Poulo Condore Island, and the Arms de Saigon emblem. The Cape St. Jacques [Vuongtau], and all coastal cities. Nicely executed. . With scale & kilometer cited. . Ready for framing and display. . An excellent map, showing a large amount of geography, features and clear identification of places. . *** CONDITION: The map is in excellent overall condition. There are no flaws, printed on stiff paper. An excellent example of an item about 140 years old. . Nicely original color, an excellent engraved example, vivid color in pastels, no folds . The hand-coloring is vivid, with four colors: pink, blue, yellow and gray shades. The map is not folded. . * .
