Turquoise cloth covers with a handsome pasted-on label. Gilt lettering is a bit dull especially on the spine; cover is just a tad cocked w/ a small amount of bumping to spine ends & corners. 10 beautiful color plates by Helen Armstrong, sister of Margaret who was quite well known as an author & illustrator & who updated the tales in the book. Rare in this condition. OUT OF PRINT. . Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition Thus. 1923.

Bright gilt titles on cover. 321 creamy pages with color frontispiece on glossy stock, black and white full page illustrations on glossy stock and black and white decorations. Originally written in 1850, this volume, edited by Margaret Armstong in 1923 has been "modernized." Small area on bottom right of illustration is rubbed and there is also a tiny nick on bottom of illustration. Sunned spine with dull titles has lightened area or spot on bottom of spine. Bumped head and heel of spine and bumped front bottom corner. Small amount of edgewear to top right corner. Inscription on fep.
