About This Item

Courage Books, 2000. First Edition, First Printing (stated). Hardcover. Very good/Good. 176 pages. Oversize book, measuring 12 inches by 12 inches. DJ has small chips and some staining. Includes information on Glass in the Work of Frank Lloyd Wright, The Uses of Art Glass, Chronological Survey, Glass Furnishings, and Index & Acknowledgments. The author was a noted writer and lecturer with over a quarter century of experience. This book was informed by more than a decade of the author's research into many of Wright's buildings. This book, illustrated in color throughout, features many photographs that have been especially commissioned for this project. It includes a chronological survey of Wright's work in glass, with detailed pictorial accounts of his use of glass in buildings from his own house and studio in Oak Park in 1889 to the Marin County Civic Center, California of 1957. The final chapter concentrates on Wright's use of glass in his furniture and furnishings. The 20th century's most influential architect utilized glass in a number of ways to distinguish his designs of churches, public buildings, and private residences. This comprehensive book traces Wright's innovative use of art glass in windows, lighting, interior decor, furnishings, and his famed Luxifer prisms-and provides a chronological pictorial survey of the glass in each documented building designed by Wright.
