About This Item

Frank Reaugh stared painting cattle in the 1880's with pastels and oil. A plein air style painter, he loved the vast plains and the dwindling herds of Texas Longhorn cattle. His home/studio in the Oak Cliff part of Dallas is preserved and has a historic marker. There have been several exhibits and retrospectives of his work, but this book is among the first.
The introduction is by Donald Weismann, who was Emeritus University Professor in the Arts at the University of Texas at Austin. He is author of 10 books and lots of articles. Laid in is an invitation to the Premier Showing of Frank Reaugh's work at the Dallas City Hall's, Great Hall on May 5, 1986. Sixty-one color plates on glossy stock. The book has some foxing on the inside cover and front free end paper. There is light even toning around the edges. The spine has a little bump on the top. The jacket has some shelf wear and is slightly yellowed, but there are no tears or chipping. A very good first edition copy.

About mark mcdonald

Book collector for over 30 years. I'm retired and ready to sell. I buy almost exclusively from estate sales and since I've lived in Dallas my whole life, I know the people and where to go. I am a low volume collector and seller and deal in higher quality books. I have a lot of signed and inscribed books. These signatures have not been officially authenticated, but I am confident in their authenticity so I will guarantee them in perpetuity if it can be reasonably demonstrated that the signature is incorrect. .
