About This Item
France: WWI French Aviation, 1917. Vintage Postcards. Fine. 5.5 X 3.5 Inches. Four (4) non postmarked, unused, divided back, Real Photo, French Aviation Postcards from about 1917 in fine condition. Photographer unknown. The photos depict the crashes of 2 different aircraft. Both are Bréguet 14's; a French biplane bomber and reconnaissance aircraft of World War I. Designed by aviation pioneer and aeronautical engineer Louis Bréguet, factory production started in March, 1917 following trials and test flights of prototypes. Two of these photos could be from the test flight period but the two photos with men gathered around clearly shows the side markings of a bomber and the empty machine gun turret cage on top, indicating that this aircraft had been armed at one time and not in test flight mode.(?) Sold as a set of four.
