About This Item

New York, NY: D. Appleton, 1874. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Appleton, 1874. First edition. No author indicated. Green cloth with black borders. A very good handsome, copy with a few sewn signatures slightly loosening. A lovely contemporary signature at top of title page. An exceptionally nice copy. The influence of France in America was particularly strong during this period with multiple Impressionist exhibitions which prompted emulation and appreciation of the French aesthetic. Adam's book "Democracy and Monarchy in France", was also published in 1874.
