About This Item

London: Herbert Jenkins,, 1956. First edition, first impression, preceding the US edition of 1959. For the novel, Wodehouse adapted the stage play Three Blind Mice (1938) by Guy Bolton, his lifelong friend and collaborator. He also novelized two other Bolton plays as The Small Bachelor (1927) and Ring for Jeeves (1953), the latter based on Come On, Jeeves (1952) - Bolton's homage to Wodehouse's best-known character. Octavo. Original red boards, spine lettered in black. With dust jacket. Head of spine and top corners lightly bumped, inner hinges starting, browning to rear endpapers; rubbed jacket a touch soiled, edges nicked and creased, unclipped: a very good copy in like jacket. McIlvaine A78a.
