New York: The Viking Press, 1970. Hardcover, large quarto bound in light green cloth and price-clipped dust-jacket. 140 pages. Illustrated with 48 tipped-in plates, including frontispiece, most in color. First American edition. Opening with a critical and historical survey of the watercolor genre in England and France, the author then turns to the main section containing 'the artists' with over two dozen highlighted by representations of their work mounted on rectos and accompanying letter-press. The last section comprises shorts biographies of some thirty artists, each accompanied by a small portrait vignette. No previous ownership marks. Mild toning to white jacket and sporadic light foxing largely limited to margins of text pages. Plates are clean and unmarked. A clean, square, unmarked copy in a complete [but for price-clipped inner flap] dust-jacket. Very good in a near very good dust-jacket. A large book, International orders will require additional postage.. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Near Very Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
