About This Item
England, 1914. Fair. Spine lacking, worn, boards detached.. A sweet friendship WWI and post-WWI album inscribed "With love from Ethel 2nd to Ethel 1st For a birthday 1914". Ethel 1st appears to have been a popular and well-liked woman, as the many entries from friends attest, dating well into the 1930s. Includes inside jokes, humorous verses, and several pages of original art (pen and ink, watercolor). Includes at least two entries by WWI veterans (Sgt. W. Pascall, St. Luis Y[?]) and a couple of endlessly charming drawings by a child. One of the entries has a red one cent George V stamp. Single vol. (4.25" by 5"), approx. 75 blank pages with ink manuscript and original artwork (pen and ink, watercolor), in original album binding. "Some girls love their brothers, But I so good have grown, that I love other girls' brothers, Far better than my own. With best wishes I. Skinner Aug. 11th 1933
