London: Macmillan, 1913. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. 273 pp + sketch map of Syria, publisher's catalogue. Illustrated with b/w photos. Bound in blue cloth with gilt illustration on front board, top edge gilt. Spotting to fore edge, minor wear to extremities, bookplate of Alfred Fowler on front pastedown. The authors was an official in the British Colonial Office. This book, written relatively early in his career, describes travels in Rhodes, Cyprus, Palestine, and Syria.
