About This Item
Newark: Barnett & Herenchak, 1976 There were attempts to save and modernize the venerable market before it was finally forced out of Manhattan in 2005; its hard to imagine a more challenging project than the one these guys took on. Unions, mafiosi, and real estate developers were to agree on the three-phase proposal offered here: building rehabilitation, redesign of the Tin Building and "improvements in traffic flow coupled with improved fish handling"; a general expansion allowing the market to "function without relocating." Still a very thorough report, with nice atmospheric renderings, handsome elevations, science fiction traffic reroutings, etc. First edition. Oblong 8vo; 82 pp.; illustrated from plans and drawings. A good copy in original plastic comb-bound wrappers..
