No date (c.1900). Ernest Nister. London. No date - circa1900. Tall slim annual format with green cloth spine and paper covered bpoards with delightful chromo-litho illustration to front cover. Illustrated half-title, delicately coloured-in, tipped in full colour chromo-litho frontis., illustration to title, b/w illustrations to every page plus four b/w plates and other full page drawings. Corners of boards very rubbed, rear panel worn and scratched, neat child's ownership inscriptions to patterned endpapers. Pages browned and nicked and chipped to margins with a few close tears. One central page lacks small piece at lower inner corner, not affecting the text or illustration, a few pages are loose otherwise a readable copy of an incredible anthology produced by the master.

Ernest Nister (1842-1909) "produced more than five hundred mostly undated illustrated books for children, but from the 1890s the firm's production was almost exclusively toy or movable books and Nister introduced many new mechanical techniques...
