About This Item

1863. OWEN, Robert Dale. Future of the North-west: In Connection with the Scheme of Reconstruction without New England. Phila.: Crissy & Markley, Printers, 1863. 15,[1]pp. 1st ed. Orig. Pictorial wrappers. Minor chipping, wrappers just starting, light uniform toning, else very good. Owen's vigorous protest against the scheme, put forward in Indiana and the Northwest, of reconstructing the Union by leaving out New England. The scheme was based, of course, on pro-slavery sentiment, which Owen bitterly opposed.
