Collins, London, 1951. First Edition. Hardcover. Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Photographic. preface by author, and list of plates. Black and white photographic frontispiece of George Bernard Shaw and there is a single photograph of his wife, taken by George Bernard Shaw between pages 100 and 101. Tan coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Plain text dustwrapper with black and white coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. "This is a Postscript to the biography of Bernard Shaw, by Hesketh Pearson, published in 1942. It continues the story from the point at which the biography left off, and describes intimate discussions and not infrequent but always friendly disagreements which took place while it was being written." -- from the front fold over panel blurb. The author kept in contact with Bernard Shaw in the last decade of his life and Shaw himself contributed his obituary. Softening with some fading to the backstrip edges with rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. Cocking of the spine. Marked browning and foxing of the text block edges. Faint browning and foxing of the end papers with age toning of the pages and the very occasional foxing spot. Very noticeable foxing to the title page – please see photograph. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and backstrip edges. There is a 1.5 " tear to the lower right hand corner of the rear panel, 0.5 " tear to the top edge of the front panel and an there is a tear measuring 6 inches, which arcs into the front panel. Sunning to the dustwrapper panels along with foxing. Foxing and browning to the verso of the dustwrapper a previous owner has supported the tear to the front panel with tape – tape still in situ.
