About This Item

Delacorte Press / Seymour Lawrence, NY, 1985; First Trade Edition; 8vo, 299 pages. A wry look back, by the ghostly shade of Leon Trout writing a million years hence, at the societal woes wrought by twentieth century man due to the ceaseless workings of his oversized brain, showing us what mankind will become in the future: furry creatures with flippers, beaks, and reduced cerebrums, whose sole occupation rests in an endless search for fish to eat. When challenged about the accuracy of his scenario for the human race, Vonnegut once quipped, "If my predictions in the book are wrong, I will return all the money." Very Good Plus, in a Very Good Plus dust jacket that has not been price-clipped. Clean, crisp, bright, sharp, no chips or tears, no previous owner signatures. A nice copy.

Synopsis

Kurt Vonnegut’s black humor, satiric voice, and incomparable imagination first captured America’s attention in The Sirens of Titan in 1959 and established him as “a true artist” ( The New York Times ) with Cat’s Cradle in 1963. He was, as Graham Greene declared, “one of the best living American writers.” Mr. Vonnegut passed away in April 2007.
