New York & London: G.P. Putnam's Sons. Published Under the Auspices of the New York Zoological Society, 1924. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Author's Autograph Edition printed on French handmade paper and limited to 100 copies. However, this copy is lettered "G" instead of numbered, signed by William Beebe. 4to. Pp. xxi, 443. Colour frontispiece + 9 colour plates (includes one double-page) containing 24 coloured illustrations by Isabel Cooper, 1 sepia-coloured photo portrait, 83 black & white photographs mostly by John Tee-Van (includes 5 maps). Original white cloth with vellum tips, gilt titles to cover and spine, top edge gilt other deckled, illustrated endpapers, preserved in a gilt-stamped, grey oil-cloth dust wrapper. Dust jacket has a few finger smudges and tiny tear at heal of spine, else very near fine.
