No ownership markings. This copy is smyth sewn. Smyth sewing is a method of book binding where groups of folded pages (referred to as signatures) are stitched together using binder thread. Each folded signature is sewn together individually with multiple stitches and then joined with other signatures to create the complete book block. This is the traditional and best method of bookbinding.

In overall very good used condition with minor signs of age, handling and storage - brown cloth boards slightly rubbed. Internally clean. Binding tight and appears little read; no annotations or inscriptions - owner’s bookplate to front pastedown and two photographs of gravestones from the Anglican Cathedral at Bathurst, Gambia, with a few neat notes on the incumbents, tipped-in to rear endpaper; toning to page-ends but text, maps and illustrations bright and clear throughout. Retains the fold-out map to rear pastedown. Not an old library book.
