About This Item

Yalding, Kent, UK : Plant Protection. Soft cover. Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Undated but circa 1930. Stapled booklet in stiff card covers, decorated and lettered in orange and brown. 96pp, with several black and white plate illustrations. 8vo. Covers a little soiled and gently rubbed on edges. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight barring a little visible oxidisation around staples. One of a series of booklets issued by Plant Protection Ltd for the guidance of the amateur gardener, with sections on soil and its cultivation, plant and its growth, watering, seeds and seedlings, common garden pests and diseases, lawn restoration, etc. There are some small, charming woodcut illustrations towards the end of the volume. A guide to gardening 1930s style (often therefore without the use of pesticides and chemicals and drawing on traditional remedies and methods).
