London: Thomas Harper, 1633. Hardcover. Good. Thick small 4to; [8] 702 [66] pp. First published in 1597, this is the second edition corrected and amended. Period paneled calf with the monogram "IA" in blind. Binding worn, rebacked; toned throughout, slight staining at rear. 1676 ownership inscription of a John Allason of Godfrid, and apparently bound for him. The medicinal qualities of a wide variety of foods and herbs are discussed in this fascinating volume. This particular copy is enhanced with annotations and marginalia throughout, and a full page of botanical notes on the blank preceding the title.
