SIGNED by Orr on the title page and inscribed by him to Virginia Poet Laureate Joe Awad. The title poem reflects the poet's trauma resulting from his having accidentally shot and killed his brother when he was twelve years old. For 44 years Greory Orr taught at the University of Virginia where he was the founder and first Director of the MFA Program in Writing. The highly acclaimed poet has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Award in Literature by the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and a Rockefeller Fellowship at the Institute for the Study of Culture and Violence. The book is in near fine condition: clean, bright, and tight, with an occasional faint spot of foxing. The dust jacket is clean, crisp and bright, with just a hint of toning.. SIGNED. First Edition.
