About This Item
Vienna: Wilhelm Braumuller, 1885. 1st ed. . Hardcover. Good-VG. 15 Cm x 22.5 Cm. Mauve blind-stamped cloth. vi+323, a few sm.pencillings to recto rear endpaper, v.faint traces of erased pencilling top verso fr.free endpaper, atttractive decorated endpapers & pastedowns, all edges browning as usual for period and place, otherwise internally clean, tight & unmarked; covers clean but edges & sp.sunfaded, sp.ends rubbed with sm.chip at bottom, incipient splitting to top back and lower fr.joints. A fairly scarce work, especially in the UK. Baron Lazar De Baczolay Hellenbach (1827-1887) apparently believed that birth and death were only changes in mode of perception and was deeply embroiled in spiritualism. Nevertheless this is a substantial philosophical effort.
