About This Item
Southern Historical Press. New. 2004. Trade Paperback. 335 pages. This volume picks up where the above book "Genealogical Abstracts from the Carolina Spartan, 1766-1872" leaves off. The author used two newspapers to complete this work and they are: The Carolina Spartan and the Spartanburg Herald. Besides marriages and deaths, other items of genealogical interest are included, such as: probates, administrations, sheriffs sales, church committees, county commissioners lists, unclaimed letters , and etc.... Lists of defendants in court cases often name South Carolinians who moved out of state. The vast majority of this volume concerns events in Spartanburg County but also neighboring counties such as: Greenville, Union & Laurens. .
