William Heinemann, 1930. 1st. Hardback. Very Good. First edition hardback, 1930, with no jacket. In overall very good used condition with only minor signs of age, handling and storage - boards with slight crushing to cloth at spine head and tail, and a couple of corners a touch rounded. Binding tight and appears little read - title page remains uncut to bottom edge. Internally clean, no annotation or inscriptions; slight toning to page-ends but text bright and clear throughout. Photographs available. Not an old library book.
Synopsis
W. Somerset Maugham was born in Paris in 1874. He began to study medicine in London but quit to focus exclusively on writing. In 1926 he bought a house in Cap Ferrat, France, which was to become a meeting place for a number of writers, artists and politicians. He died in 1965.
