New York: Simon & Schuster, 1947. 8vo., 275pp. Blind embossed biege cloth stamped dark bluish-green. Signed in full on the title page in blue fountain pen. A very good copy showing some wear at the spine heel. In a very good example of the first edition dustwrapper properly priced & with the author's photo on the back panel. The title page dated 1947 without any edition statement on the copyright page. Likely a very early printing in a supplied dustwrapper. Basis for the aclaimed movie adaptation which won Academy Awards for Best Picture & for Elia Kazan as Best Director, & actress Celeste Holm. The movie also received five additional nominations, including one for Gregory Peck as Best Actor. Hobson's second & most famous novel. An important book about anti-Semitism in America causing a sensation upon publication so soon after WWII.
