Paris: Bachelier, Libraire, 1826. First edition. leather_bound. Contemporary full polished maroon calf. Very good. 3 vols. 20 x 13 cm. Forty-three engraved folding plates. Primarily devoted to mathematics and mechanics as related to the industrial arts, the text contains a number of sections devoted to architecture and perspective. The work was popular going through many editions, and widely translated. University of London prize binding presented to Thomas R. Hill, 1833/34, second prize in the class of Natural Philosophy and Mathematics. Covers with gilt seal of the University of London, double gilt border fillets and gilt corner florets. Raised bands, red morocco spine labels (several chipped), gilt inner dentelles, marbled endpapers with matching edges, occasional dampstaining and wrinkling of folding plates, covers lightly faded.
