London: Christie's King Street, 2018. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. White hardcover with title in bronze gilt on front cover and spine and tipped in image on front cover. Condition: Very good, essentially fine, with the blindstamp of the art gallery Offer Waterman & Co. to the lower right of the front endpaper with a reference number neatly handwritten to centre. 80pp. Many colour illustrations. This catalogue was produced to accompany the auction of the painting by Gerhard Richter (b.1932) entitled Schadel (Skull) held at Christie's King Street in London on 4th October 2018. Prior to the auction it had been held in the same private collection for 30 years, Schädel (Skull) is a masterpiece that stems from the height of Richter's photo-painting practice, and the catalogue includes an essay by Dietmar Elger as well as Richter's own thoughts on the subject..
