Pages are clean and unfoxed, binding is tight, spine has a very slight lean. Top edge gilt, side edge deckled. Facsimiles of decorative woodcut book borders produced in Germany between 1510 and 1535. 4to. Includes introduction, list of plates, index of printers, and 86 full-page plates. Bookplate from the library of Nellie Shackleford Smith, a teacher and member of a prominent Virginia family whose sister, Mattie T. Shackleford, was a nurse in the American Red Cross during W.W.II.
