From Wikipedia: "Seth Kahan (July 9, 1959) is an American author and change agent specializing in business innovation. He is the author of three books: Building Beehives (2004), Getting Change Right (2010) and Getting Innovation Right (2013)....Kahan was born in New York City on July 9, 1959. In 1980, he graduated with a BA in Mathematics from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. From 1978 to 1992 Kahan wrote, directed, produced, and performed experimental theater. He led ensembles of up to forty musicians, dancers, poets, and actors. He also did a number of original one-man shows and was a professional storyteller from 1984 to 1996 with a focus on ritual, human transformation, and rites of passage. This work evolved into Kahan's organizational change work, enabling him to build engagement in multicultural, decentralized, and multi-disciplinary organizations. From 1996 to 1998, Kahan was a member of the team that spearheaded knowledge management in the World Bank, and helped champion organizational storytelling as a legitimate knowledge management practice. In 1999 he became the World Bank's Communications Manager for a worldwide IT systems renewal effort. From 2000-2002 he worked with the president of the World Bank, James Wolfensohn, on internal communication and building internal communities to address strategic issues on a global scale. Kahan left the World Bank in 2002 and founded his own company, Visionary Leadership. Since that time, he has worked with over 60 CEOs and executive directors. He developed strategy for the Peace Corps under director Gaddi Vasquez from 2004-2005, and provided change leadership at Royal Dutch Shell from 2007-2009, most notably for the introduction of Smart Fields in the Americas, a $20 million initiative which introduced advanced technology to obtain detailed data on oil and gas fields, helping to improve recovery and raise production. In 2008 Kahan helped leaders of organizations respond to the US Financial Crisis. As a result he began to focus on innovation in the face of disruption. He identified the four forces of disruption (customer challenges, industries upending, competition, and the rise of new business models) and his approach for successfully dealing with each. From 2010 onward Kahan has worked with the HR Certification Institute to raise a national conversation on the value of innovation in Human Resources for organizational strategy. Since 2012 he has worked with the National Apartment Association to raise operations and member engagement to world class, addressing issues that include governance transformation, data acquisition and mining, and customer service. Kahan is the author of three books, Building Beehives: A Handbook for Creating Communities that Generate Returns.
